Welcome to the Akita Club Of Wales OFFICIAL Website!
In light of receiving a mountain of complaints from web surfers, the Club feels compelled to produce a site at this time in order to distance ourselves from a site in use by a Breeding Kennel who have carefully elected to use our Club title as their url. As that site only serves for their kennel's promotion and puppy sales, it speaks volumes for that breeder's personal ethics.
It has never been the policy of this Club to promote any single kennel's activities. We are here to offer unbiased guidance which has been the case since the inaugral meeting in 1990. Feedback logged with The Kennel Club and held in our own records is unquestionably positive, this dates from the Club's inception to the present day.
We respectfully request that all enquiries for assistance in any area of Akita ownership are conducted by letters addressed to the Secretary, or by contacting any Committee Member in the same fashion. Any person serving on the Club's Committee will be happy to take your telephone call, and we are all more than happy to work with anyone on a one to one basis at our weekly training classes held at FOCHRIW Community Centre in South wales. The venue is a very large, modern centre in a village location and just 10 minutes drive from Merthyr Tydfil. The classes are an ideal opportunity to socialise for both your dog and yourself, a warm welcome is guaranteed as well as a hot cup of tea or coffee! detailed directions can be emailed to you upon request.
This site will contain all relevant contact details for your convenience if you decide to call or write.
Some committee Members volunteer as "Rescue Assistants", our role being to educate potential homes and be a helping voice on the end of the phone after the adoption too, we have also helped with the transporting of Rescue Akitas and fund raising. Our Club's role in the rescue of Akitas has always been a major factor and we pledge to help wherever we can. Contact details for Rescue Akitas in the UK will be found on this site, we hope you can appreciate that the Club's assistance should not be taken as an endorsement of any particular Adoptee, that auspice falls upon the appropriate rescue organisation.
With all this said, we hope you enjoy your visit to our rather naive site, sadly our lack of computer skills limit the content to very basic, but that has to be better than the alternative!
